Journal

Day 1: Thursday, November 13th; The Trip to Indianapolis

The trip began at 5am on Thursday as the band members arrived at Webster High School for bus boarding. The snow on the ground disappeared as the buses headed south from the Great Lakes area. The buses managed to miss the snow but not the rain in the Indianapolis area as they arrived safely at their hotel at 7pm.

Day 2: Friday, November 14th; The Preliminaries

Webster put on a great show in the preliminaries at 3:30pm today! The prelim results were announced at 10:30pm. Webster received a Division I rating and qualified for the semi-finals. They drew the last performance slot for tomorrow, 4:30pm. The band members were informed of the results as they turned in for lots of rest ;-)

Day 3: Saturday, November 15th

The Semi-Finals

Webster performed in the semi-finals at 4:30. Although they did not place in their class, they earned one of the 10 spots in final competition. Finals begin at 7pm with the awards to be presented at the Grand Finale beginning at 10:15pm.

The Finals

Webster drew a 9:15pm performance slot for their finals performance. At 11:00pm, during the Grand Finale, Webster learned that they placed 10th with a score of 84.25. After a pizza party at the hotel, the band members took a well-deserved rest in preparation for tomorrow's early start home.

Day 4: Sunday, November 16th; The Trip Home

After a 5:30am wakeup call and breakfast, the buses were packed and the band on its way back just after 8am. The long trip ended at 8:45pm as the buses rolled in to the Webster High School parking lot. Waiting to greet the students were plenty of cheering families and friends with balloons and flowers in hand. Unlike last year where the band drove through snow only to find Webster clear and green, the students found over 10 inches of snow on the ground which wasn't there when they left on Thursday.
